E3 2012 COVERAGE:
NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. 2 (NINTENDO 3DS) -
Nintendo had a very short section on the Nintendo 3DS at this years conference but they did show a new addition to the Super Mario franchise where collecting coins is the main objective. Mario returns to handhelds in New Super Mario Bros. 2 this time around in 3D, meaning it’ll not only come to the DS but the 3DS as well. In Mario Bros. 2 not only are you going to have to rescue the princess but also collect 1 MILLION COINS ! ! ! Yes coins are very important in this game but so is rescuing the princess which means youll need a little help from some familiar Mario allies, Luigi makes a return along with an arsenal of powerups like the raccoon suit and penguin suite. There was also a brief moment where we saw Mario turn solid gold when reaching a certain amount of coins if this is a power up its powers are still unknown to us but sooner or later well find out what this power does.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be a digital download on Nintendo 3DS’s eShop as well as a physical copy you can actually purchase at a store just download and play on the go anytime. The price is still unknown but most likely will be in the be 35.99 range like any other 3DS game and its release date will be sometime in August 2012.
