Hey guys/ladies Chow here and Ive got some exciting news Daft Punk is back and have announced a new album. Now even tho we know nothing about the album besides them signing to Columbia Records its pretty exciting news. Its been a few years since they’ve put anything out (i don’t count the Tron OST as an album) but on Feb. 26 they blew up Facebook by posting the album cover for everybody to see. They also put a link to their site but the site went down within the hour due to the massive amount of people trying to view it. I dont know about you but i think thats pretty cool, im excited about this new album are you?

Hello everybody its been so i want to say thanks to all the loyal fans for sticking with us while we were gone but were back now and better than ever. PLAYSTATION ALLSTARS OFFICAL ROSTER UPDATE:

Lately Sony’s been releasing characters that’ll join the battle in Playstation Allstars Battle Royale this November, heres an update on who you can choose when the time comes to battle it out:

Kratos:

The God of War was one of the main characters to be announced and it was no surprise seeing that hes Playstations biggest baddass after killing everybody on his way to the top of Mount Olympus.

Sweet tooth:

The king of chaos was also an main character when Playstation Allstars was announced but instead of destroying anyone that gets in his way with his ice cream truck he jumps into the battle with his trusty chainsaw ready to cut some limbs off!

Radec: A surprising entry to me was Killzone’s Helghast leader Radec but what ive seen from his gameplay is that he’s packing heat and isnt afraid to blow shit up!

PARAPPA THE RAPPER:

Im still on the fence about this one, although he is a Playstation classic character can he keep up with the big dogs? (pun intended) Just remember PaRappa “Punch Kick its all in the mind”.

SLY:

The only Raccoon to ever rock a pimp cane has joined the battle, with quick stealth moves Sly looks like a worthy fighter to choose.

FAT PRINCESS:

The last character i ever expected to make the cut, Playstations very own Fat Princess comes to the brawl and who knows maybe she’ll eat everybody else to make it to the top.

BIG DADDY:

Being a huge Bioshock fan when i heard the little sisters voice and Big Daddy’s groan at the E3 conference i got chills and for a second could’nt believe it but it was official, The guardian of all little sisters has come to whoop some ass.

DRAKE:

You cant say Playstation with out thinking of Uncharted so it was no surprise that the infamous treasure hunter Nathan Drake was picked to join the roster. Itll be interesting to see how he will be able to keep up without having to pull out his guns and blast his opponents.

TORO INOUE:

Some of you might not recognize this lovable cat right away and some of you might after his guest slot in Street Fighter X Tekken but hes originally from Sony’s marketing department in Japan. Itll be fun to see how he can stand up to the bigger challengers hell have to fight.

HEIHACHI MISHIMA:

Tekken’s ass kicking grandpa made his way into the battle and like always is ready to bring it to anybody that gets in his way, its nice to see that Playstation is picking characters we wouldnt expect to see.

COLE MACGRATH AND EVIL COLE:

Another big character from the Playstation world joins the fight and he has 2 forms, you can choose from Cole MacGrath the civilian turned super hero that saves the world from giant electrical monsters or his evil side that kicks ass and can throw you all the way across the screen with his pinky. The choice is yours!

JAK AND DAXTER:

Jak and his companion Daxter have always been a badass duo and Playstation classic since their debut on the Playsation 2 so seeing them in allstars was a must. Jak and Daxter are a long range team as Jak will be able to use his arsenal of weapons and turn into his light and dark forms which extend his punch and kick abilities.

SPIKE:

Some of you might remember this little guy from a game we have’nt heard of in awhile, Ape Escape. Im just hoping he brings some of his monkey friends to the fight so we can monkey around.

DANTE:

Now before you get excited its not the Dante we are used to seeing its the Dante we are yet to know about. In a surprising twist Playstation has decided to use the Dante from D.M.C the new game release due to drop later this year. I dont know about yall but im not feeling the black hair but who knows maybe the black hair might give him some kickass ability weve never seen.

SACKBOY:

Now even tho this one was a dead give away i really want to see how the cutest thing ever to come out of Playstation will be able to defend him self against pro fighters and warriors like Heihachi and Radec.Theres now building your way out of this fight Sackboy so show us what you got.

RATCHET AND CLANK:

Veterans of the Playstation world, Ratchet and Clank team up once again to whoop some intergalactic ass against enemies they’ve never faced before. This classic duo will make an epic rivalry against Jak and Daxter, i can see it now the hours spent arguing on whos the better team.

RAIDEN:

The worlds most badass cyborg takes a break from seeking Revengeance to join the battle and brings his fast paced deadly combos with him.

SIR DANIEL FORTESQUE:

As a kid i used to love playing Medievil so when i heard Sir Daniel was added to the official roster i freaked out. Who doesnt love a kick ass skeleton in shining armor?

NARIKO:

Another unexpected addition was Nariko from Heavenly Sword.

PS VITA UPDATE V.1.80 TIPS:

Finally the long awaited PS Vita update is here!!! The new update came with some cool new features but the only one everyone cares about is that we can finally play our PS1 games on our Ps Vitas. Theres is one same flaw with the North American release, Europe got 129 PS1 titles they can play as of today while North America has about 9. Vita owners can either download Ps1 titles straight from the store on their Vita or copy them straight from there PS3’s.

The easiest way to get some PS1 games on your vita is straight download but if you want a few more titles that arent on the store PS3 transfer is the way to go. PS3 transfer is kinda tricky, first go to the store and download the PS1 game you want to transfer even if you have it already installed into your PS3 you still need to download it again, when done downloading DO NOT install it to your PS3 just hook up your ps vita, open the content manager and bingo you have your favorite PS1 games on your vita. One last quick piece of advice when you start up your PS1 title the game doesnt fill the screen all the way this is an easy fix just put your figure on the screen for about 5 seconds and the options will pop up. Hope these tips help out, keep gaming my friends.

Ruffles Ultimate kickin jalapeno ranch chips:

We start our gaming snacks section with the new chips from Ruffles, by just reading the name you’d expect them to be delicious but when our very own writer Chris N. (A.K.A the mighty dragon from the east) tried them he could’nt stop telling us how horrible they were.

Price:

They’ll run you about $1.49 for a regular sized bag or 2 1/2 sized bags.

Taste:

The taste was pretty bad plain out nasty more ranchy than jalapenos, the heat was a good level not to hot but not to plain i just couldnt get past the fact that they tasted like spicy ranch cover plant leafs.

The Ruffles Ultimate kickin jalapeno ranch chips are not a good snack for anything especially for gaming.

E3 2012 COVERAGE:

THE LAST OF US (PS3) -

Hey gamers, heres some more E3 action news that caught our eye, well more than what we allready had. Naughty Dog has done it again, but this time the angle of their game did not involve and Adventurer Drake and his gang traveling across the world. The Last Of Us is something on a whole new level for them, it looks like an intense filled game with as we see an Older man named Joel and a Young Woman named Ellie who team up to escape a city in ruins.

This game was announced December of 2011 and its Release Date is not til New Years so the torture is crazy. Its a Post-Apocalyptic game that takes you to a place where from Game Footage shows has a sort of Fallout feel to it where there are Rogue people trying to harm you all while traveling through vast lands of destroyed cities, without the monsters that is. Your main player is Joel who really does all the Brute Work and Ellie is sort of a support cast which helps certain times.

Naughty Dog promises a great game and from the looks of it, they will keep their word. Personally i have been DYING to get ahold of this game just because i love Action Packed Games with some Thrill and Terror in them. Thats all there really is to it, for the official Gameplay, go to Youtube and search “E3 2012 the last of us official gameplay”, trust me guys its so worth giving it a look. SONY PLAYSTATION WONDER BOOK -

What is up fans, you all keep up with E3? It was seriously another great year with a lot of new Cool and Outrageous games, accessories and software. Today I’m talking about a product Sony is dropping and will NOT disappoint. If you haven’t heard already, Sony has brought AR (Artificial Reality) to its home with the installment of the PS Vita, now it made a Book for users to see Stories and Events pop to life by using the Wonder Book and its AR functions (works with the PlayStation Move only.)

This new product really caught our eyes here at 8-Bit Quest because of its interaction between the move and the AR function. One of the first installments we saw that was coming to the Wonder Book is from one of the most Famous Authors this era that brought us the books of a Young Magician named Harry Potter. Yes non other than J.K. Rowling herself has help make “The Book of Spells”, a story game in the Wonder Book that brings you Spell Casting and Learning, Story lines and Information on the world of Harry Potter.

We see great things being made for this and from my opinion, pretty soon we might even see AR Games in the likes of a AR type Call of Duty or Bioshock off of what we already have (if you understand where im going with it.) Well I personally think this is a start to something bigger in gaming, maybe in Television and Movies as well? Who knows but until then, stay 8bit my friends and game long and hard.

NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. 2 (NINTENDO 3DS) -

Nintendo had a very short section on the Nintendo 3DS at this years conference but they did show a new addition to the Super Mario franchise where collecting coins is the main objective. Mario returns to handhelds in New Super Mario Bros. 2 this time around in 3D, meaning it’ll not only come to the DS but the 3DS as well. In Mario Bros. 2 not only are you going to have to rescue the princess but also collect 1 MILLION COINS ! ! ! Yes coins are very important in this game but so is rescuing the princess which means youll need a little help from some familiar Mario allies, Luigi makes a return along with an arsenal of powerups like the raccoon suit and penguin suite. There was also a brief moment where we saw Mario turn solid gold when reaching a certain amount of coins if this is a power up its powers are still unknown to us but sooner or later well find out what this power does.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be a digital download on Nintendo 3DS’s eShop as well as a physical copy you can actually purchase at a store just download and play on the go anytime. The price is still unknown but most likely will be in the be 35.99 range like any other 3DS game and its release date will be sometime in August 2012. E3 2012 COVERAGE: ASSASSINS CREED 3: LIBERATION (PS VITA)

Earlier this year Assassins Creed 3 was announced and has been one of the most anticipated games of the year alongside with Halo 4 and Resident Evil 6 but PlayStation hit us with some big news at their conference when they announced that Assassins Creed 3 would be heading to the PS VITA the same day as its system release in Assassins Creed 3 : Liberation. We had heard months before that the PS VITA would be getting a Assassins Creed title but nothing was confirmed till the announcement at E3 where we learned that we would be playing as the first female assassin Aveline.

In AC3: Liberation you play as Aveline a french female assassin of African decent in New Orleans, her story takes place at the same time as the system version of AC3 as they are both staged after the French and Indian War. Aveline is in no way connected to Desmond Miles the previous user of the animus so we are guessing there will be a new character accessing Aveline’s memories. The game will still feel and handle like any other Assassins Creed but will utilize the PS VITA’s front and back touch sensor’s for tasks like pickpocketing and killing your enemies in a flashy finishing move. Assassins Creed 3 and liberation will both drop on October 30 but Im sure we’ll learn more about this title before its release.

In addition to the announcement of this hand held title PlayStation also announced that in honor of Assassins Creed making its way to the PS VITA they would be releasing a special limited edition PS VITA Assassins Creed bundle which would come with a crystal white PS VITA and the game AC3: Liberation for the small price of $299.99! Ill be grabbing both titles upon release so expect major reviews for now let us know what you think about this game: Should Assassins Creed venture onto handhelds once again or should it just stick to system releases?

PLAYSTATION ALL STARS BATTLE ROYAL -

So E3 was earlier this month and we saw some amazing stuff one of may favorites was this title your about to read about Playstation All Stars Battle Royal. If you havent heard of this title youve been living under a rock cause its been all over the gaming universe buzzing with mad excitement. Playstation All Stars brings you all your favorite Playstaion characters into one game to brawl it out in a Super Smash Bros. type of game style. Up to four players can fight on one screen and you can even battle PS3 to PS vita through its cross system gameplay option. All Stars was rumored for some time and at E3 all the rumors were silenced when it was made official and fans were amazed when Playstation gave us the first taste of whats to come with this title.

Playstation all stars has alot of similarities to Super Smash but it doesnt copy the format exactly, in All Stars you can choose from many Playstion characters such as Sly from Sly Cooper, Kratos from God of War, PaRapper the Rapper and the recently announce Drake from Uncharted and Big Daddy from Bioshock just to name a few. Third party characters have been rumored to join the fight but none have been officially announced, some rumored have been Ezio from Assassins creed, Laura Croft from Tomb Raider (i know what your thinking Tomb Raider is a Playstation exclusive but its new release coming up this year is cross plateform) and John Shepard from Mass Effect, although none have been made permanent additions to the game these are the strongest choices by the game’s producers to be added later on. The list of characters is huge and the producers plan on making it even bigger so expect a vast variety of characters to fight with.

Another difference from Super Smash is that the stages you fight in will not be themed by just one video game but two, the stages confirmed that have been shown feature game mash ups such as Little Big Planet with Buzz, God of War with Patapon, Ratchet and clank with God of War and Jak and Dexter with Hot Shots Golf. As you battle against others the the characters that theme the stage will interact with each other as well, for example weve seen a stage where Hades from God of War battles it out with an army of Patapons and as they fight their attacks bounce off and inflict damage on the players. While in battle each characters earns orbs to fill up a 4 stage special meter, these special meters can be usefull as they can change the tide of the battle. At E3 we saw a few specials, one where Fat Princess(Fat Princess) jumps on a golden chicken and charges at all players for a one hit kill, another was Sweet Tooths (Twisted Metal) stage four where Sweet Tooth jumps in to his transforming ice cream truck and destroys his competition with a giant machine gun.

Playstation All Stars looks amazing and is a big title everybody will be waiting for lucky for us we found out that we wouldnt be waiting for this title for long as Playstation has announced its release date for October 23rd. Check this awesome Picture i found of some Heros i can say are Avengers (well a few.) The main one that pops out is in Spiderman, were expecting his new Movie, The Incredible Spiderman, to be a blockbuster hit as well as his new Game coming out this year. Also word is a 2nd Avengers Movie is in the works, I wont spoil it from the 1st, but if you know your heros amd villains, just know Thanos is seen to be in it.

FAR CRY INSANE EDITION ANNOUNCED :

Ubisoft has announced that there will be a special edition of far cry called the insane edition buuuuuuut … its only available for pre order in the uk :( but dont give up hope quit yet far cry fans cause it might make its announcement for the west soon. In the mean time heres what the insane edition will come with:

A 12cm Vaas wahine with bobble head
Monkey Business - Discover Hurk , a new and memorable character and quest giver, and his 4 unique missions ( 1 hour of gameplay )

MORTAL KOMBAT 9 REVIEW:

FINISH HIM!!! Last year Mortal Kombat made its triumphant return with its 9th release in the franchise and was able to win Fighting game of the year. This year the award wining fighting game made its way to the ps vita jam packed with all the dlc’s and exclusive content. One tournament, 32 fighters, the fate of earth realm let the kombat begin!

All the characters from the system release are back plus all four dlc characters (skarlet, kenshi, rain, and freddy krueger) and kratos the ps exclusive. It also comes with 16 new alternate outfits and various mini games that use the ps vita features such as the touch screen, tilt and shake. One new feature you can use any time is touch screen fatalities which are awesome and simple to use just swipe the directions of the fatality and enjoy. A big part of mk9’s success was its challenge tower well its back and to make things even better theres now a bonus challenge tower exclusive to the vita. In the bonus challenge tower youll use the ps vita features in challenges like test your balance and test your slice, some of these challenges can get really annoying and will test your skill but feel so rewarding when you completing them. The story and krypt make a return as well and nothing has changed its exactly the same as the system version.

Mortal kombat on the ps vita is awesome, sure the graphics are maybe a 8 out of 10 but you need to know that they had to lower the graphic quality in order to keep the speed and x rays in the game. Over all i give this game a 9 out of ten it was fun on the ps3 and its even better on the go. So get together and help raiden save earth realm but remember to stay 8bit.

SUPER MARIO 3D LAND REVIEW:

The princess has been captured who will save her now? Its a me a mario!!! Yes questers mario is back and has returned to his old platformer ways with a new school twist all in stunning hd 3d. Bowser has taken the princess once again and mario is on a mission to recover his one and only true love but he cant do it alone with the help of you and his trusty toads mario travels multiple worlds to save princess peach.

Nintendo promised that Super Mario 3D land would show off their nintendo 3DS true 3D capability and trust me they delivered. Ive hated playing some 3DS titles simply cause the 3D is either to harsh on the eyes or nothing at all pops out at you but this Mario title completely uses every aspect of the 3D in can. You can play it in 2D but in my opinion its really weak and makes some levels harder to play so turning the 3D up on this game is a must in order to get the full experience. With the 3D on youll see mario jump up towards you or have multiple clouds fly past you while you fight your way through levels filled with familiar enemies.

Theres 8 worlds in total with multiple levels in each, some of you hardcore mario fans will find the first few worlds fairly easy but that doesnt mean later worlds will be the same, some of the later levels proved to be a challenge even to some of us veteran players. Even though this is a new mario game it was awesome seeing some old mario elements weve grown to love brought back such as sinking in green plumbing tunnels, sliding down flag poles and even bouncing off music pads to reach hidden levels in the sky. All our favorite enemies are back as well from Goombas with tanooki tales to the classic piranha plants. You can also suit up mario with either the tanooki suit or the boomerang suite making some levels much easier if you can keep the powers meaning one touch from an enemy and your powers are gone. The classic fire suit also makes a return in some levels and is very fun to use.

Super mario land 3D looks great the graphics look exactly like that of super mario galaxy 2 so theres no complaints there and the music makes each level unique. This is truly the best game on the 3ds and gets a 10/10 from me, with that said please go pick up this title and enjoy!

Here’s a Funny Picture of the old Gameboy back when Pokemon was simple and 152 (it includeds Mew and Mewtwo) where my personal 3 favorite starters were born, Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander. We do this in recognition that Pokemon Black/White 2 Has officialy been announced and Japan has exclusive looks at it already. Still no 3D made Pokemon yet but its not like it wont happen.

I want to add that a 3D pokemon has been announced but in a rpg format, pokemon conquest will be available soon bringing a mix of fire emblem and pokemon together.
